HP Cooling Fan Mislabeled December 19, 2013

A few years back, Compaq released a line of CQ models of Presario, CQ50, CQ60 and CQ70, the HP equivalent being the G50, G60 and G70. They were pretty good laptops. My wife’s CQ60 is hanging by a thread, but she can’t part with it. One problem with these models was that the fan went out on them. This is easily replaceable, but, after a little while, people started telling me I shipped them the wrong one. Until I realized, HP was mislabeling the fans. There is supposed to be one fan for AMD CPUs and one for Intel CPUs. There is even a third rare version that goes inside an assembly.

I have marked mine by screw hole count, so you can tell the difference. This does not include the screw hole not visible on the back side though. I recommend you pull it out and confirm which version you have first so you do not risk receiving the wrong one.
