In an earlier post, I discussed the usefulness of an IP KVM if you are managing a lot of servers. However, the function your KVM may not be able to accomplish is a full shut down your servers if they needs to be rebooted. For that, you need a power distribution unit or PDU.
This device can offer remote monitoring of power rating, remote shutoff of each outlet or all outlets through IP control. For advanced power needs you may need a cabinet distribution unit or CDU which is 3-phase power rated.
If you have any other questions about PDU or CDU, feel free to write me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also find some available at our website www.laptoppartsexpert.com.

So, let’s say you manage a lot of servers for a big company or you have a small army of cloud servers for your customers, and you don’t have a lot of space in your rack. You also need to be able to remotely access them all as quickly as possible. What do you do? Well, I recommend an IP KVM. This 1U rackmount device allows you to connect up to 48 servers by a simple Ethernet connection.
If your server does not have an IP KVM port, you can just terminate it to USB or PS/2 with a KVM terminator cable. Once connected, you will be able to remotely control up to 48 servers from one keyboard and mouse. This also keeps necessary cabling down to a minimum and you can save more money by making your own custom length Ethernet cables.
